The United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL) is the nation’s largest amateur ice hockey league and a leader in player development across North America. Founded in 2012, the USPHL was built to provide a clear pathway for aspiring athletes to reach their highest potential—from youth and junior hockey to college and professional levels.
With a mission centered on development and advancement, the USPHL has helped thousands of players move on to NCAA Division I, Division III, ACHA, and professional programs worldwide. The league prides itself on providing a high-performance environment, supported by experienced coaches, top-tier training facilities, and a national schedule designed to challenge and elevate talent.

When they're not on the road or on the ice, Steel' players find comfort and stability with their billet families. Located in and around North Tonawanda, these families open their homes—and their hearts—to provide a safe, supportive environment where players can relax, recharge, and feel truly at home. From shared meals and quiet study time to weekend activities and lifelong bonds, billet families play a vital role in each player’s junior hockey journey.
Each host family is carefully selected and screened through official USPHL background checks, ensuring a secure and nurturing environment. For parents and players alike, this offers peace of mind and the assurance of a genuine home away from home—where athletes are cared for not just as players, but as part of the family.

Helping players reach the next level is a top priority for the Buffalo Steel coaching staff, who have guided hundreds of athletes to opportunities in the USHL, college hockey, and the pros. With a team made up of former pro, college, and junior players, the staff brings proven experience and strong networks across North America. The Steel' also prioritize internal development, regularly promoting players from Premier to the West Chester Wolves NCDC.
