The newly launched USPHL 18U Division is set to provide a high-level competitive environment for independent Tier I, AAA, and Academy players seeking advancement to junior and college hockey. Operated by the Tier 1 Hockey Federation (THF), the division will feature a 40-game schedule combined with USPHL showcases, giving players exposure in a true junior-style atmosphere against elite competition from across North America. Designed as a direct development pathway into the USPHL junior ranks and NCAA hockey, the league emphasizes high-tempo play, player advancement, and increased scouting visibility while offering an alternative platform for top-level athletes outside traditional USA Hockey-affiliated structures.

Located in and around North Tonawanda, these families open their homes—and their hearts—to provide a safe, supportive environment where players can relax, recharge, and feel truly at home. From shared meals and quiet study time to weekend activities and lifelong bonds, billet families play a vital role in each player’s junior hockey journey.
Each host family is carefully selected and screened through official USPHL background checks, ensuring a secure and nurturing environment. For parents and players alike, this offers peace of mind and the assurance of a genuine home away from home—where athletes are cared for not just as players, but as part of the family.

Helping players reach the next level is a top priority for the Buffalo Steel coaching staff, who have guided hundreds of athletes to opportunities in the USHL, college hockey, and the pros. With a team made up of former pro, college, and junior players, the staff brings proven experience and strong networks across North America. The Steel' also prioritize internal development, regularly promoting players from Premier to the West Chester Wolves NCDC.
